For Gene and the remaining humans—or hepers—death is just a heartbeat away. On the run and hunted by society, they must find a way to survive in The Vast… and avoid the hungry predators tracking them in the dark. But they’re not the only things following Gene. He’s haunted by the girl he left behind and his burgeoning feelings for Sissy, the human girl at his side.

When they discover a refuge of exiled humans living high in the mountains, Gene and his friends think they’re finally safe. Led by a group of intensely secretive elders, the civilisation begins to raise more questions than answers. A strict code of behaviour is the rule, harsh punishments are meted out, young men are nowhere to be found—and Gene begins to wonder if the world they’ve entered is just as evil as the one they left behind. As life at the refuge grows more perilous, he and Sissy only grow closer. In an increasingly violent world, all they have is each other… if they can only stay alive.

Uh, I don’t really like watching golf since I don’t understand it. I mean the rules. I do understand you need to swing the club and hit the ball. Lol. But it’s like educational ride for me.

I didn’t even know that golf could be a team kind of game. Anyway, Hooked is not really something new. I mean, sure the golf is new but the story, not so well. Already read it somewhere else.

It is also a bit predictable in some parts. Like that thing between the two bestfriends. I already know how they would end up when I read they are best friends and that the other hates the race of the partner. :/

Although I have to admit that I didn’t expect the ending with the best friends be like that. It’s good that it ends like that. Oh, I don’t really like Ryan that much since he can’t man up. :/ It takes him like a long time to man it up.

I don’t really like the subject of racism, so I don’t like the way the kids treat the Indian kids. Anyway, it is fun and cute read. :)

Review: Eve by Anna Carey {2013 TBR Pile RC}

The year is 2032, sixteen years after a deadly virus—and the vaccine intended to protect against it—wiped out most of the earth’s population. The night before eighteen-year-old Eve’s graduation from her all-girls school she discovers what really happens to new graduates, and the horrifying fate that awaits her.

Fleeing the only home she’s ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Separated from men her whole life, Eve has been taught to fear them, but Caleb slowly wins her trust…and her heart. Damn. I finally finished it. It took me six days to read it since I don’t read it continuously. And I don’t know what to think yet.

I don’t really like the way or the reason for the Schools. I find it repulsive but then again, I guess if it’s how the world would be, it’s acceptable. For the story I mean. I don’t really find it acceptable now. Or in the next days. It just isn’t right even if the purpose is for greater good.

What I like about this book is the main character herself, Eve. I like her for not being a whiny female protagonist, I like how she pick up herself and try to tend herself on her own. I like how she taught them to read. How she care about her friends.

I read in a review that why do the author have to build up the story about the school. Why educate the girls and all that stuffs they do in the school if the girls would be like THAT. (view spoiler)

I get it now. The School is trying to gain the girls’ trusts. They need that in order to do whatever the hell they want without too many complications. It’s more easy to educate them, try to gain their trusts, give them medicines, ‘care’ for them.

Sooo anyway, that’s how I see it and I did enjoy some parts of the book. It is good. :)

For people like me who loved Play With Me by Piper Shelly. An exclusive excerpt from the first chapter of Tony’s story. :) Yay!!!

Love Stories

I feel like I should say something. Something like… All of you, who read PLAY WITH ME, loved it, posted a review on Goodreads and Amazon, and keep sending me messages, yeah, all you guys rock!

I never expected this hype about the book to happen, but 12,000 people have read the book in less than two months. And seriously, if you imagine that number of people in one place, you could fill a concert hall with them. This is amazing. Thank you very much!

As a little “give-back-to-you”, I thought some of you might like to get a glimpse at the story as it continues. Tony’s book is already in progress, and here’s an exclusive excerpt from the first chapter.

Happy reading!

BOTW: Vain by Fisher Amelie {01.13.13}

If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah…then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price…And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

This better be good. I see that my friends who read it gave it 5 stars or 4. :)

It is pretty much really good. Sophie Price is hateful at first. I was so worried about not liking it that much cause I really don’t like girls who boast a lot that they are beautiful, powerful, etc. She’s so vain and I know that if this continued on, I wouldn’t like this book.

Sophie Price is filthy rich. Or her father is. She’s an only child. I think we all know that children who are so freakin’ rich would be bound to be defected. I just mean, parents not really there when you grow up, you are raise by nannies, you got to have whatever you want but you feel hollow still. You parents giving you ultimatum when you disgraced them. You know. The likes. It is so predictable what would happen to her, what would her father would do, what Ian would do, what Pemmy would do.

I mean, yeah, predictable. Cause I already read it somewhere, by somewhere it’s like reading Tagalog pocketbooks. The stories Filipino writers made, some are similar with this. Filipino writers love that kind of story so I know well what would happen.

Regardless, I am giving it a 4 stars because I like Masego. I like how the author shows us the life in Masego. Some part of Africa are really poor. It’s like reminding me to be grateful to what I have. From clothes, food, electricity, water, safe home, complete limbs and so on. I was also reminded the things that happened in our own country.

I just meant that this is a good eye opener to what is happening to other countries. Not only Africa or Philippines. It is also happening in other countries, Middle East, Europe, it’s all over the world. We see it happening but we really don’t do anything about it.

Well, anyway, I should probably just shut up. :p It is a good read nonetheless.

Read: Gates of Paradise by Melissa de la Cruz

Schuyler Van Alen is running out of time. The Dark Prince of Hell is storming the Gates of Paradise, intent on winning the heavenly throne for good. This time he has his greatest angels by his side, Abbadon and Azrael—Jack and Mimi Force, as they are known in the Coven.

Or so he thinks. Even as Lucifer assigns Jack and Mimi the tasks of killing their true loves, the Force twins secretly vow to defeat the Dark Prince once and for all. But how far will Mimi and Jack go to conceal their real loyalties?

Meanwhile, former vampire Bliss Llewellyn has joined forces with Lawson, the greatest wolf of the underworld, to free his people from their imprisonment in Hell. As they struggle against impossible odds, an ancient message, woven into the very fabric of time, reveals just how much depends on the success of their mission.

Lucifer seeks the key to the Gate of Promise, and when Schuyler is taken captive and delivered straight to Hell, she must make an unthinkable choice—the same one the archangel Michael was forced to make during the Crisis in Rome. Will Schuyler find the strength to do what he could not?

The epic, heartbreaking Blue Bloods series comes to a close with this final novel about staggering courage, unbearable sacrifice, and the immortality of true love.

Can’t believe that after this book, it’s over now. :(
But I’m gonna read this one and put off my other CR for now.

OMG! I finished it! It’s really really sad that this is the last book. :( I love this series that much. Don’t really care about what others would say. The battle is not that epic but really, it’s memorable. It’s just right.

I was a bit afraid that there’ll be no battle like what happened in Rapture (Fallen series), but thank heavens, that it didn’t end like that. And the secret is not that surprising since I think we all know that that would be her true… uh, yeah. Not saying anything. *zips mouth*

At first, I kinda forgot what happened in the sixth or even in the fifth book and I should really refresh my mind before reading it but oh, well. What’s done is done. Anyway, I do suggest that you read Wolf Pact though. But you’ll survive even if you don’t. Like what I did. ;)

And I freakin’ cried. :( I really liked the ending. And oh, that last chapter, makes me think that he should have his own series. LOL. It’s surprising he’ll be the new Regent. And that conduit… *zipping mouth tighter*

Anyway, love it! Even Jack, I mean, I always love Jack but of course, he’s great at acting like he don’t care, that I don’t like him that much sometimes. :P
